Crab Topics

Large Crustaceans are best displayed in closed cabinets, behind glass. This will keep the dust away. They are often spectacular and colorful.

The smaller pieces are ideally stored in insect boxes. Ask your supplier of insect boxes to make higher than usual boxes, in order to store also crustaceans which exceed the usual 5 cm in height.

Two things are to avoid when keeping crustaceans: big quantities of light are not good for the colors which will fade faster when displayed in light.

Secondly, wet conditions are not advised: the crabs will smell when drying once more, or fungus may develop and destroy your collection.

Insect boxes are ideal to keep bugs away. In case some bugs appear, spray with insect-repellers or use the classic methods as used by insect collectors.
